About
I’m Danny Brister, Jr. — pastor, nonprofit founder, and a lifelong resident of Birmingham, Alabama.
I write about leadership, faith, and what it looks like to build beloved community in cities and regions. My work sits at the intersection of the gospel, justice, and the hard, hopeful work of developing leaders who become agents of flourishing.
I serve as Founder and President of Forged: Birmingham Leadership Foundation, where we disciple, develop, and deploy Christ-centered leaders in urban communities. I also serve as Pastor of Local Missions and Discipleship at Grace Church Birmingham.
This newsletter — Act Justly Love Mercy — is where I think out loud. You’ll find reflections on Scripture, leadership, race, culture, and the city. It’s my attempt to be a faithful witness in writing, the same way I try to be in person.
Subscribe to get every new piece delivered straight to your inbox. No noise — just writing that I hope points you toward God and neighbor.
